[CAILEAN] Càite a bheil thu ag obair?

[MAIREAD] Tha mi ag obair ann an oifis ann am meadhan a' bhaile. 'S e rùnaire a th' annam. Càite a bheil thu fhèin ag obair?

[CAILEAN] Tha mise ag obair ann an àrd-sgoil dìreach air taobh a-muigh a' bhaile.

[MAIREAD] Oh, an e tidsear a th' annad?

[CAILEAN] 'S e. 'S e tidsear matamataigs a th' annam.

[MAIREAD] A bheil fada bho thòisich thu san obair an sin?

[CAILEAN] Thòisich mi bho chionn còig bliadhna anns an sgoil seo. Ron a sin bha mi a' teagasg ann an sgoil eile ann an Inbhir Nis. Dè mu do dheidhinn fhèin? Cuin a thòisich thusa anns an oifis sin?

[MAIREAD] Oh, tha mu thrì bliadhna ann a-nis. Chaidh mi ann dìreach bliadhna às dèidh dhomh a bhith deiseil anns a' cholaiste.

[CAILEAN] Bheil an obair a' còrdadh riut?

[MAIREAD] Och, tha. Tha mi faighinn gu leòr rudan eadar-dhealaichte ri dhèanamh. Chan eil latha sam bith mar fhear eile agus 's e àite beòthail a th' ann. 'S fheudar gu bheil an teagasg a' còrdadh riut fhèin cuideachd?

[CAILEAN] Tha, gun teagamh.

[MAIREAD] Carson a thagh thu teagasg mar bheò-shlàint?

[CAILEAN] Uill, nuair a bha mi san sgoil, bha na tidsearan agam a' còrdadh rium gu mòr. Bha iad cuideachail is taiceil agus bha iad a' faighinn shaor-làithean fìor mhath cuideachd! Shaoil mi mar sin gur e deagh dhreuchd a bhiodh ann.

[MAIREAD] Tha na saor-làithean tarraingeach ceart gu leòr. Chan eil mise a' faighinn ach còig seachdain air falbh bho m' obair anns a' bhliadhna.

[CAILEAN] Carson is e obair rùnaire a thagh thu fhèin, ma-thà?

[MAIREAD] Bha mi riamh math air obair coimpiutair, bha mi toilichte am measg diofar dhaoine...

[CAILEAN] Agus tha thu an-diugh a' dèanamh obair a tha còrdadh riut!

[MAIREAD] Tha fios 'am. Tha mi air a bhith cho fortanach agus air cothroman sònraichte fhaighinn. Tha mi cho toilichte a-nis a' dèanamh an rud is toigh leam ann an àite air leth.

[CAILEAN] Càite an tuirt thu a bheil thu ag obair?

[MAIREAD] Oh, 's mi an rùnaire aig Prìomh Mhinistear Alba!

[CAILEAN] Where do you work?

[MAIREAD] I work in an office in the city centre. I'm a secretary. Where do you work?

[CAILEAN] I work in a secondary school just outside the town.

[MAIREAD] Oh, are you a teacher?

[CAILEAN] Yes. I'm a mathematics teacher.

[MAIREAD] Have you been working there for long?

[CAILEAN] I started work in this school five years ago. Before then, I was teaching in another school in Inverness. What about you? When did you start in that office?

[MAIREAD] Oh, about three years ago now. I went there just a year after I finished college.

[CAILEAN] Do you enjoy the work?

[MAIREAD] Oh, yes. I get lots of different things to do. No day is like any other and it's a lively place. You must enjoy teaching too?

[CAILEAN] Yes, definitely.

[MAIREAD] Why did you choose teaching as a career?

[CAILEAN] Well, when I was in school, I really liked my teachers. They were helpful and supportive and they got fantastic holidays, too! As a result, I though that would be a good profession.

[MAIREAD] The holidays are definitely appealing. I only get five weeks off work throughout the year.

[CAILEAN] Why did you decide to work as a secretary, then?

[MAIREAD] I was always good with computers, I enjoy mixing with different people ...

[CAILEAN] And now you're doing a job you enjoy!

[MAIREAD] I know. I've been so lucky to have been given this wonderful opportunity. I am really glad that I'm now doing something I enjoy, in a great location.

[CAILEAN] Where did you say you worked?

[MAIREAD] Oh, I'm the secretary to the First Minister of Scotland.
