Casg air dòigh air muirsgian a ghlacadh

[Iain MacIlleathain - Preseantair] Nise, tha iasgairean nan eilean a' feuchainn ri dòigh a lorg muirsgian iasgach anns an sgìre. Tha an t-Aonadh Eòrpach air casg a chur air a bhith ag iasgach le càbaill agus cruthadairean dealain, ged a tha feadhainn ris fhathast. Mas e 's gun tèid dòigh ceadaichte a dhealbh, tha luach ceudan mìltean notaichean ann an iasgach a' mhuirsgien. Seo Aonghas Dòmhnallach.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha daoine san fharsaingeachd nas eòlaiche air a bhith a’ glacadh muirsgien nuair a bhios an tràigh ann. Ach tha dòighean gam feuchainn a-muigh aig muir a tha a’ cur gathan dealain làidir tron ghainmhich a tha a’ tilgeil nam muirsgian a-mach agus ga fàgail air a’ ghrunnd deiseil airson an togail. Ach tha casg ga chur air an iasgach sin.

[Donnchadh MacAonghais] ‘S e dàibhearan a th’ air a bhith ag obair air agus tha e gu math duilich dhaibh dèanamh a-mach tha iad a’ cleachdadh, ach a-nis tha na bàtaichean, tha iad gu bhith a’ cleachdadh. Feumaidh iad faicinn mus tèid iad a-mach seòrsa innealan a th’ aca air bòrd agus cha bhiodh e ceadaichte an seòrsa innealan, gu h-àraidh generators agus cables a chleachdadh idir.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha sin cunnartach do dhàibhearan agus a’ dèanamh sgrios air maorach eile agus fiù ‘s air muirsgien òga a tha a’ bàsachadh air a’ ghrunnd.

[Donnchadh MacAonghais] ‘S e an Roinn Eòrpa a chasg, chuir iad ri linn, tha grunn dhàibhearan air bàsachadh ann an Alba sna bliadhnaichean a chaidh seachad agus gu h-àraidh an ìre dealain a tha iad a’ cur dhan uisge. Tha e cho làidir agus gu bheil luchd-eòlaich dhen bheachd gu bheil e a’ milleadh air stoc maorach eile air a’ ghrunnd.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Ach tha iasgairean a’ chosta Siar a’ coimhead gun gabh iasgach mhath a dhèanamh às ma ghabhas riaghladh an iasgaich airson dèanamh cinnteach gum bi e seasmhach.

[Donnchadh MacAonghais] Tha Riaghaltas a’ toirt riaghailtean ùra a-mach an cois nan ceadan bho thoiseach a’ Mhàirt an sin, agus bidh iad an dòchas nuair a thig an cead ùr a tha sin gum faic iad air an riaghailtean ùra a thoirt airson nach biodh stoc a tha sin air an riaghladh anns na bliadhnaichean a tha romhainn. Gu h-àraidh, tha sinn a’ coimhead g’ eil cothrom mòr a tha sin airson ‘s dòcha’ suas ri millean not a thoirt anns na h-eileanan.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Dh’iarr am muir a thadhail. ‘S i a’ cheist a thaobh nam muirsgien, an dòigh anns an gabh sin a dhèanamh? Aonghas Dòmhnallach, BBC An Là, ann an Leòdhas.

A ban is in place to catch razorfish

[Iain MacLean - Presenter] Now the islands’ fishermen are trying to find a way to fish for razorfish in the area. The European Union has banned fishing with cables and electricity generators, although some still do it. If there is a permissible way is found, there hundreds of thousands of pounds in fishing razorfish. Here is Angus MacDonald.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] People in general are more used to be catching razorfish when they are on the beach. But there is a way to get them out at sea which puts strong electricity rays through the sand and throws the razorfish up and leave them on the ground ready to be picked up. But that way of fishing has been banned.

[Duncan MacInnes] Divers have been working on it and it is very hard for them to make out what they are using, but now the boats that they are going to use. They have to see before they go out what sort of machines that they have on board before that type of machines, especially the generators and cables that they use.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] That is dangerous to divers and destroying other shellfish and even on the young razorfish that are dying on the ground.

[Duncan MacInnes] It is the European Union who put the ban in force. Many divers have died in Scotland in the past years and especially with the level of electricity that they put in water. It is so strong and experts are of the opinion that destroy stocks of shellfish as it is put in the ground.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] But fishermen on the west coast are looking to see if good fishing can be done to make sure that fishing rules want to make sure that it is stable.

[Duncan MacInnes]The Government brings new rules out from the permissions that were brought out in the start of March and they hope that when the new permission comes out that they the new rules will bring that they will control the stock in future years. Especially we are looking for opportunity that may bring up to a million pounds to the islands.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] The sea will request you visit. The question is with razorfish is what is the best way to do it. Angus MacDonald , in Lewis.
