Co-labhairt le Eaglais na h-Alba airson Gàidhlig a bhrosnachadh

[Iain MacAonghais – Preseantair] Nise thèid co-labhairt a chumail ann an Glaschu air an ath-mhìos le eaglais na h-Alba airson Gàidhlig a bhrosnachadh anns an eaglais. 'S e Modaratair Ainmichte na h-Eaglaise, An t-Ollamh Urramach Aonghas Moireasdan, a th'air cùlaibh a' ghnothaich, le òraidean air cuspairean a leithid litreachas, craoladh, searmonachadh agus goireasan air-loidhne sa Ghàidhlig. Le tuilleadh seo am fear-naidheachd againn Coinneach Mac a' Ghobhainn.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn – Neach-aithris] ‘S e eaglais mhòr agus farsaing a th’ann an Eaglais na h-Alba. Ach an ath mhìos ‘s ann air an coitheanalan is luchd-labhairt Gàidhlig a bhithear a’ coimhead, le cò-labhairt sònraichte mun chànan.

[An t-Oll Urr Aonghas Moireasdan] Tha Eaglais na h-Alba air a bhith taiceil do chleachdadh na Gàidhlig ann an adhradh agus co-theacsan eile thar nam bliadhnaichean. Ach tha sinn mothachail gu bheil an ùine ann a-nis airson co-labhairt den t-seòrsa seo a chumail gus sùil a thoirt air na thathas a’ dèanamh airson na Gàidhlig ann am beatha na h-eaglaise an-dràsta agus beachdaichidh a’ cho-labhairt air an tuilleadh taic a bhiodh iomchaidh airson cleachdadh traidiseanta na Gàidhlig gu sònraichte ann an adhradh agus cuideachd sùil a thoirt air dòighean anns am b’ urrainn taic leasachaidh a thoirt do dh’ iomairtean ùra.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn – Neach-aithris] Am measg nan iomairtean ùra sin tha An Sgeul Mhòr, stèidhichte aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig agus tha iad am measg na bhruidhneas aig a’ cho-labhairt còmhla ri daoine eile leithid Dòmhnall Meek agus Mairead Mhàiri Mhoireach.

[An t-Urr Iain Urchardan] Tha mi smaoineachadh gu bheil a’ cho-labhairt seo gu bhith uabhasach cudromach air sgàth agus gu bheil mòran dhaoine air a bhith dèanamh rudan airson spioradalachd Ghàidhlig adhartachadh leotha fhèin ann an siud ‘s ann an seo, thall ‘s a-bhos agus glè thric tha sinn air ‘s dòcha rud a dhèanamh a tha cuideigin eile air a dhèanamh mar-thà ach le co-labhairt a bhith toirt daoine ri chèile dh’ionnsaich sinn tha dol agus faodaidh sinn a bhith cleachdadh na sgilean againn ann an dòigh far nach eil sinn a’ dùblachadh agus tha mi smaoineachadh gum bi sin gu math feumail agus cuideachd tha e gu bhith math airson misneachd, dìreach a bhith cluinntinn gu bheil rudan a’ tachairt, gu bheil iad ùr, gu bheil iad blasta fhios agad tha cnàmhach annta.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn – Neach-aithris] Le connspaid a’ leantainn na h-eaglais o chionn bhliadhnaichean tha na tha a’ cur an tachartais air dòigh cuideachd an dòchas gun toir e sealladh ùr dhan phoball air obair na h-eaglaise.

[An t-Oll Urr Aonghas Moireasdan] Seadh tha e fìor a ràdh gu bheil ceistean connspaideach agus cùisean cràidhteach air a bhith gu math tric anns na naidheachdan mu dheidhinn na h-eaglaise. Aig amannan tha seo air aire tharraing air falbh bho grunn mòr de sgeulachdan math mu obair 's fianais na h-eaglaise nach nochd idir ann an cinn naidheachdan.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn – Neach-aithris] S ann air an aonamh fichead dhen ath mhìos a thèid a’ cho-labhairt a chumail le cuireadh ro dhuine sam bith aig a bheil ùidh ann. ‘S ge bith thig às cuiridh gu leòr fàilte air cothrom cnuasachaidh. Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn, BBC An Là.

Church of Scotland Conference to expand Gaelic

[Iain Macinnes – Presenter] Now, The Church of Scotland will hold a conference in Glasgow next month to encourage the use of Gaelic in the church. Rev Dr Angus Morrison, the Moderator Designate of the church, is behind it with speeches on subjects such as literacy, broadcasting, preaching and Gaelic online resources. With more here is our reporter Coinneach Smith.

[Coinneach Smith - Reporter] The Church of Scotland is large and diverse church. But next month they will be looking at the congregations and Gaelic speakers, with a special conference on the language.

[Rev Dr Angus Morrison] The Church of Scotland has been supportive towards the use of Gaelic in worship and other circumstances over the years. But we’re aware that the time has come to hold a conference of this kind to have a look at what is currently being done in church for Gaelic and the conference will discuss what other support is appropriate for traditional Gaelic methods particularly in worship and look at ways we can support the development of new schemes.

[Coinneach Smith - Reporter] Amongst these new schemes is An Sgeul Mhòr, based at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and they are among speakers such as Donald Meek and Margaret Mary Murray.

[Rev Iain Urquhart] I think this conference will be very important as many people are doing things here and there to advance Gaelic spirituality themselves and fairly often we do things someone else has already done but with a conference bringing people together we learn what is happening and we can use our skills so that we are not doubling up and I think that will be useful and also it’s good for confidence, just to hear things are happening, that they are fresh and appetising and they have substance.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] With controversy following the church over the years those setting up the event hope that the public will be given a fresh new look at the work of the church.

[Rev Dr Angus Morrison] Yes it’s true to say there that controversial questions and upsetting matters with regards to the church have arisen in the news often. At times this has drawn attention away from many good stories about the work and record of the church which doesn’t appear in the headlines.

[Coinneach Smith - Reporter] The conference will be held on the 21st of next month and everyone with an interest is invited. And whatever comes of it, the opportunity to debate will be welcomed. Coinneach Smith, BBC An Là.
