Ionad cànain, cultair is ciùil do dh'Uibhist a Deas

[Innes Rothach – Preseantair] Tha e coimhead coltach gun tèid ionad cànain, cultair agus ciùil a thogail ann an Uibhist a Deas. Mun àm-sa an-uiridh, cha robh ach sia mìosan aig a' bhuidhinn Ceòlas airson am pròiseact a thoirt air adhart no cur às dha. Tha Ceòlas a-nis ag obair ann an com-pàirteachas le buidhnean eile airson a thoirt gu buil ann an 2017. Tha an aithris seo aig Shona NicDhòmhnaill.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] ‘S ann sa bhliadhna 2011 a dh’inns Ceòlas an toiseach gu robh a’ bhuidheann an dùil ionad ùr a thogail ann an Uibhist a Deas. Ach, mun àm seo an-uiridh, nochd teagamhan leis a’ phròiseact agus chuir iad romhpa fhèin, mura biodh iad air adhartas gu leòr a dhèanamh ann an sia mìosan, gum biodh iad a’ cur cùl ris an togalach ùr airson greis co-dhiù. A-nis tha an suidheachadh a’ coimhead gu math nas fheàrr.

[Mairi NicAonghais] Tha a-nis neach-obrach againn ag obair gu sònraichte air a’ phròiseact a thoirt air adhart agus tha cuideachd gu leòr dhe na buidhnean a tha an lùib Gàidhlig 's cultair is ionnsachadh air tighinn air bòrd agus air taic a thoirt dhuinn agus tha an gnothach a’ coimhead gu math coltach a-nis gu bheil sinn a’ dol a chur air adhart ionad no àite air choireigin ann an ceann a Deas Uibhist eadarainn fhèin agus Colaiste a’ Chaisteil.

[Iain Mac a’ Mhaoilein] Bha rudeigin ann a thaobh Uibhist 's ceòl a tha làidir, làidir agus tha feum againn tha mi smaointinn air rudeigin a dhèanamh airson sin a bhrosnachadh ‘s a leudachadh agus ‘s ann a thaobh sin a tha sinn ag obair ‘s tha sinn air a bhith ag obair còmhla ri Ceòlas agus dòchas againn agus beachd againn rudeigin mòr a dhèanamh ann an Uibhist.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Chan eil na clasaichean agus cùrsaichean aig Ceòlas a’ ruith ach beagan sheachdainean dhen bhliadhna ach tha feum aig oileanaich nan cùrsaichean ciùil aig colaiste Chaisteil air àite suas ri 36 seachdainean sa bhliadhna.

[Mairi NicAonghais] Am fear a bha gu math nàdarra, bha sinn fhìn a’ smaointinn cuideachd ‘s e Colaiste a’ Chaisteil gu seachd àraid far a bheil iad a’ dèanamh a’ chùrsa ciùil ‘s mar a tha sin air a bhith cho soirbheachail ann an Uibhist.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Agus le àite sònraichte airson nan cùrsaichean bhiodh e comasach an àireamh oileanach a th’ orra a leudachadh gu suas ri ceithir fichead duine.

[Iain Mac a’ Mhaoilein] Ma tha duine sam bith ag iarraidh fiosrachadh fhaighinn mu dheidhinn no ag iarraidh iad fhèin a bhrosnachadh ‘s e Uibhist an t-àite airson sin a dhèanamh, ‘s e an t-àite ceart. Tha mi smaointinn gu bheil, agus ‘s ann a thaobh sin a tha math a bhith ag obair còmhla ri Ceòlas.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tha goireasan 's seirbheisean faisg air làimh riatanach do dhaoine a bhios a’ frithealach a leithid a dh’ ionad. Agus mar sin tha e coltach gur ann an Dalabrog no Loch Baghasdail a bhios an togalach. Bidh coinneamh phoblach ann an Dalabrog oidhche Haoine airson beachdan agus taic an t-shluaigh fhaighinn air an làraich as freagarraiche. Shona NicDhòmhnaill, BBC An Là, Uibhist a Deas.

Language, culture and music in South Uist

[Innes Munro – Presenter] It looks likely that a centre for language, culture and music will be built in South Uist. Around this time last year, the group Ceòlas had only six months to move forward with this project or abandon it completely. Ceòlas are now working in partnership with other groups to bring it to completion in 2017. Shona MacDonald reports.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] It was in the year 2011 that Ceòlas initially said that they hoped to build a new centre in South Uist. But this time last year, doubts arose and they decided that if there was not enough progress made in six months they would abandon plans for set aside the new building for a while anyway. The situation now looks a lot better.

[Mary MacInnes] We now have someone working especially on bringing the project forward and also plenty many of the groups who are involved in Gaelic, culture and learning have come on board to provide us with support and it looks likely now we can set up a centre or place of some kind in South Uist between ourselves and Lews Castle College.

[Iain MacMillan] There’s something about Uist and music that is very strong and I think we need to do something to encourage and broaden this and it’s because of this that we have been working with Ceòlas in the hope of achieving something great in Uist.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Ceòlas’ classes and courses only run for a few weeks in the year but the Castle College’s music course students need a place up to 36 weeks of the year.

[Mary MacInnes] The one that was the natural choice, one we thought ourselves too was Lews Castle College especially as they run the music course which has been very successful in Uist.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] And with a special place to hold the courses they would be able to expand the number of students to eighty people.

[Iain MacMillan] If anybody wants information about it or wants encouragement Uist is the place to do it, it’s the right place. I think it’s due to this that it’s good to be working with Ceòlas.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] It is essential that there are utilities and services close to hand for those who would be attending the centre. Therefore it’s likely that the building will be in Daliburgh or Lochboisdale. There will be a public meeting in Daliburgh on Friday night to get some opinions on the most suitable site and to get support from the people. Shona MacDonald, BBC An Là.
