Dùn Èideann a' ruighinn ìre aig nach robh sgioba rugbaidh Albannach roimhe

[Angela Nic’Illeathain - Preseantair] Spòrs a-nis agus an ceann còrr is leth uair a thìde tòisichidh Cuairt Dheireannach Cupa Dùbhlan Rugbaidh na h-Eòrpa. Bidh sgioba Dhùn Èideann a’ cluich an aghaidh Gloucester ann an Twickenham Stoop. Mar a tha Ailean MacLeòid ag aithris, tha Dùn Èideann mar-thà aig ìre aig nach robh sgioba rugbaidh Albannach a-riamh roimhe.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Ann an Lunnainn, tha luchd-leantainn Dhùn Èideann a' dèanamh deiseil airson an gèama mhòr. Ach chan e dìreach turas spòrsail a tha seo dhan sgioba.

[Ùisdean MacIllinnein] Seo an gèam as motha th’air a bhith aig Dùn Èideann a-riamh chan eil teagamh, ann dìreach air sgàth nach robh sgioba Albannach riamh ann an cuairt dheireannach Eòrpach ann an rugbaidh. Tha e car coltach, cha tèid mi cho fada ri bhith ag ràdh gu bheil e car coltach ri Celtic a’ buinig Cupa na h-Eòrpa, tha mi smaoineachadh gu bheil e aig an ìre fon sin ge-tà, ‘s dòcha Cup Winners Cup anns na seann làithean nuair a bhuinig Rangers, gum faodadh tu chur air an aon ìre sin.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Gèam mòr dha-rìribh ma-thà, ach dh' fheumas Dun Èideann dèanamh a-nochd airson a’ chùis a dhèanamh air sgioba a tha air buannachadh nan aghaidh trì tursan an seusan-sa mar-thà - agus anns a bheil fear de seann ghasgaich na sgioba?

[Ùisdean MacIllinnein] Tha cunnart an lùib a’ ghèam gum bi Dùn Èideann agus ‘s dòcha Sam Hidalgo-Clyne air an glacadh leis an t-suidheachadh neo-àbhaisteach seo far a bheil an duine a dh’ fhoghlaim am fear eile, tha an dithis aca a-nis a’ tighinn còmhla agus cuideachd an dithis aca cuimhnich a’ coimhead air adhart gu Cupa na Cruinne. Tha sin ann an dòigh nas cudromaiche a’ coimhead air adhart ach cha bhi air dhòigh sam bith nas cudromaiche a-nochd air a’ ghèam agus tha taobh mòr tha fhios againn aig Laidlaw ri Dùn Èideann. ‘S e a-nis sgiobair na h-Alba agus bidh fhios aige mar a tha Dùn Èideann a’ cluich ‘s tha mise smaoineachadh gun atharraich Alan Solomons ‘s dòcha an stoidhle cluich aig Dùn Èideann mu choinneamh sin, gum feuch e ri aire a tharraing bhon chòmhstri tha seo eadar an chluicheadair air àireamh naoi ‘s gun sgaoil e a’ chluich beagan a bharrachd. Gum feuch e ri Tim Visser agus na cluicheadairean eile air an iomall agus Greg Tonks a’ tighinn a-steach dhan sgioba mar eisimpleir, gun cleachd e iadsan airson beagan dhen ìmpidh a chumail far Hidalgo-Clyne.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Dùbhlan mòr air thoiseach orra ma-thà, ach cuideachd cothrom ainm a chur an eachdraidh rugbaidh na h-Alba gu bràth. Ailean MacLeòid, BBC An Là.

Edinburgh reach a new level for a Scottish rugby team

[Angela MacLean – Presenter] Now to sport and in a little over an hour the final of the European Rugby Challenge Cup will begin. Edinburgh will play Gloucester at Twickenham Stoop. As Allan MacLeod reports, Edinburgh have already reached a level that no other Scottish rugby team has before.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] In London, Edinburgh supporters are getting ready for the big game. But this is not just a fun trip for the team.

[Hugh Dan MacLennan] This is Edinburgh’s biggest game ever without a doubt, as there has never been a Scottish team in a European rugby final. It’s a bit like, I won’t go as far as to say it’s like Celtic winning the European Cup but I would say it’s at the level below that, perhaps when Rangers won the Cup Winners Cup in the olden days, you could put it at the same level as that.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] A big game indeed then. But what do Edinburgh need to do tonight to beat a team that have beaten them three times this season already – and which has an old teammate of theirs playing for them?

[Hugh Dan MacLennan] There’s a danger in this game that Edinburgh and perhaps Sam Hidalgo-Clyne will get caught up in this unusual situation they find themselves in where one taught the other and now they are both now playing together and also remember, looking forward to the World Cup. That in a way is more important looking ahead but in no way will it be more important tonight than the game ahead and as we know, Laidlaw has a big allegiance with Edinburgh. He is now the Scotland captain and he’ll know how Edinburgh are playing and I think Alan Solomons will change Edinburgh’s style of play due to this, that he will try and draw attention away from the rivalry between the two number 9 players by spreading out play a little. He will use Tim Visser and other players on the edge and bring Greg Tonks into the team for example, to take a little of the pressure off Hidalgo-Clyne.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] A big challenge lies ahead of them then but also the chance for a place in Scottish rugby history forever. Allan Macleod, BBC An Là.
