Tha e làn dhealbhan agus sgeulachdan mu dhaoine a tha air taic a chumail ris a’ bhuidhinn nam bliadhnaichean. Chaidh Shona NicDhòmhnaill dhan chuirm dhuinn.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Cuirm-chiùil airson foillseachadh an leabhair de dhealbhan agus sgeulachdan a chaidh a chur ri chèile a’ comharrachadh na 20 bliadhna bho thòisich Comann Bogsa agus Fidheall Uibhist agus Bheinn na Faoghla.

[Tomaidh MacDhòmhnaill] Tha e air tighinn oirnn gun fhiosta. Chun urrainn dhomh chreidsinn dìreach gu bheil 20 bliadhna bhon a thòisich an club. Ach tha mi smaointinn gur e an rud math mu dheidhinn a’ chlub, tha tòrr de dh’ fheadhainn òga a’ tighinn thuige agus tha feadhainn nas sine a tha gus a bhith math fhathast, tha iad math mar tha.

[Padruig Moireasdan] Chan eil an t-uabhas cuimhne agamsa a bhith dol dhan chlub an toiseach, bha mi cho òg nuair a chaidh mi ann le mo phàrantan. An toiseach bhiodh mise ag èisteachd. An uair sin an dèidh beagan bhliadhnaichean tha mi smaointinn bhitheamaid a’ dèanamh dannsa-ceum ann agus bhiodh m’ athair a’ seinn uabhasach fhèin tric ann. Agus an uair sin an dèidh dhomh tòiseachadh air a’ bhogsa còmhla ri Fèis Tìr a’ Mhurain, nuair a bha mi ochd.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tha dealbh anns an leabhar air buill a’ chomainn a’ dannsa air bòrd bàt-aiseig Cal Mac.

[Padruig Moireasdan] Uill tha iomadach cuimhne agam, thairis air na bliadhnaichean tha cuimhne agam a bhith dol air turas dha Na Hearadh, turas dhan Eilean Sgitheanach agus tha mi smaointinn thuras a Bharraigh cuideachd. Tha cuimhne agam a bhith dèanamh beagan cluich agus fiù ’s dannsa air aiseag an Loch Bhrùsda.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Chan e a-mhàin luchd-ciùil a tha tighinn còmhla ann an talla Eaglais na h-Alba ann an Grìomanais gach dàrna Disathairne. Tha luchd-èisteachd dìleas ann cuideachd.

[Niall Mac a’ Phearsain] Mas urrainn dhuinn idir, ma tha sinn a’ dol tha sinn a’ dol ann. Anns a’ bhliadhna a chaidh seachad bha mi cha mhòr ann a h-uile oidhche. Oidhche laghach, tòrr ciùil, seann cheòl agus tòrr òigridh a’ tighinn a-staigh agus an diofar a chì thu orra sin a h-uile seachdain ‘s a h-uile mìos, dìreach bheir e toil inntinn mhòr dhut.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tro na bliadhnaichean, tha cuid de na buill air grunn dhealbhan a tharraing aig cruinneachaidhean na buidhne . Tha cuid dhiubh anns an leabhar ùr agus tha stòras mhòr air DVD a tha an cois an leabhair. Cruinnichidh an luchd-ciùil Disathairne-sa tighinn airson a’ chiad oidhche dhen t-seisean seo. Shona NicDhòmhnaill, BBC An ann am Beinn na Faoghla.

20 years of the Uist and Benbecula Accordion and Fiddle Club

[Angela Maclean – Presenter] The Uist and Benbecula Accordion and Fiddle Club are celebrating 20 years since it was established. They launched a book at an event at the weekend. It’s full of pictures and stories about the people who have supported the club over the years. Shona MacDonald attended the event for us.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] A concert to launch a book of pictures and stories, compiled to celebrate 20 years since the Uist and Benbecula Accordion and Fiddle Club began.

[Tommy MacDonald] It’s come round unknowingly. I can’t believe that there’s been 20 years since the club began. But I think the good thing about the club is that a lot of young ones attend and some a bit older that are going to be good yet, they are already good.

[Pàdruig Morrison] I don’t remember a lot from when I first started attending the club, I was so young when I used to go with my parents. Initially I’d listen. Then after a few years I think, I would step dance and my father would often sing. And then, after that I started to play the accordion at Fèis Tìr a’ Mhurain when I was eight.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] There’s a picture in the book of club members dancing on board a Cal Mac ferry.

[Pàdruig Morrison] Well I have many memoires, over the years I remember taking a trip to Harris, to Skye and I think two trips to Barra too. I remember playing and even dancing on the Loch Bhrùsda ferry.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] It’s not only musicians who gather in the Church of Scotland hall in Griminish every second Saturday. It has a loyal audience too.

[Neil MacPherson] If we can go, we do. In the last year I went almost every night. It’s a nice night, plenty music, traditional music and lots of young people attend. The difference you see in them each week and each month, well it just gives you great delight.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Throughout the years, many of the members have taken pictures at club gatherings. Most of them are in the new book and there’s a wealth of pictures on the DVD which comes with the book. The musicians will gather next Saturday for the first night of this session. Shona MacDonald, BBC An Là in Benbecula.
