Fàilte air Ceitidh

[Dòmhnall Angaidh Moireasdan – Preseantair] Nise chaidh goireas ùr airson sgoilearan a chuideachadh le an cuid Gàidhlig a chur air bhog gu h-oifigeil an-diugh. Thèid aig clann-sgoile "Ceitidh" a chleachdadh airson Gàidhlig ionnsachadh no an cuideachadh ann an deuchainnean. Tha faireachdainn ann gun urrainn dhi a bhith cuideachail ann an dòighean eile cuideachd. Tha tuilleadh aig Calum Dòmhnallach.

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Thèid aig clann-sgoile èisteachd ris a’ Ghàidhlig tro Cheitidh. Bheir sin cuideachadh dhaibh ann a bhith a’ bruidhinn a’ chànain agus tha faireachdainn ann gu bheil an goireas a’ còrdadh riutha.

[Alasdair Allan BPA] Tha iad ga sgrùdadh an-dràsta gu math mionaideach airson am blas a th’ann agus na faclan a th’ ann agus tha e follaiseach gu bheil stòras mòr de fhaclan aig a’ ghoireas agus cuideachd gu bheil coimeas aig a’ ghoireas seo a bhith tuigsinn agus cur ri chèile faclan ùr air nach eil an coimpiutair eòlach. Tha e gu math inntinneach.

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Faodaidh an goireas a chleachdadh ann an deuchainnean agus a bharrachd air Gàidhlig a chluinntinn innsidh e dhan chloinn nuair a tha rudeigin ceàrr air na sgrìobh iad agus tha an t-adhartas a’ còrdadh riutha gu mòr.

[Coinneach Combe] Tha e a’ còrdadh ri na sgoilearan agus gu sònraichte chan ann a-mhàin seach gu bheil am bathar bog, an goireas fhèin math, tha e cuideachd feumail dhaibh a bhith an-sàs ann am pròiseas a bhith a’ leasachadh bathar-bog. Sin rud a tha iad ag ionnsachadh mu dheidhinn anns an sgoil an seo.

[Aonghas] Uill airson a’ chiad teacsa gu guth, bathar-bog teacsa gu guth ann an Gàidhlig a-riamh, tha e uabhasach math.

[Aidan] ‘S dòcha math nach eil thu cho math air, mar, toirt a-steach rudan. ‘S dòcha gum faod thu a’ leughadh agus a bhith ag èisteachd ri teacsa aig an aon àm.

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Chaidh an goireas ùr a chur air bhog an seo aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu an-diugh. Ged a chuidicheas e clann-sgoile, tha faireachdainn ann nach e sin a-mhàin a e.

[Alasdair Allan BPA] Uill airson duine sam bith a tha ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig, tha e feumail airson a bhith faighinn a-mach seòrsa fuaim a th’ aig na faclan. Ach cuideachd airson duine sam bith le dyslexia mar eisimpleir no cuideigin a tha dall. Tha e fosgladh tòrr chothroman airson a bhith leughadh leabhraichean air-loidhne, airson a bhith cleachdadh an eadar-lìon ann an dòigh ùr.

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Goireas a dh’ fhaodadh a bhith gu math feumail do chlann agus ‘s dòcha inbhich a tha ag ionnsachadh a’ chànain. Calum Dòmhnallach, BBC An Là.

A welcome to Ceitidh

[Donald Morrison - Presenter] Now then, a new online tool to help students with their Gaelic was officially launched today. School children will be able to use “Ceitidh” to help them learn Gaelic or with exams. Opinion suggests that it could be useful in other ways too. Calum MacDonald has more.

[Calum MacDonald – Reporter] School children will be able to listen to Gaelic through Ceitidh. It will help improve their speaking skills and opinion suggests that they are enjoying the tool.

[Alasdair Allan MSP] They are currently studying it in great detail, what sort of accent it has, which words it contains. It’s clear too see that the tool has a great number of words and that it understand you and is able to create new words that the computer doesn’t recognise. It’s very interesting.

[Calum MacDonald – Reporter] The tool can be used in exams and in addition to being able to listen to Gaelic it will be able to tell the children when a mistake has been made in their writing and they’re very much enjoying this development.

[Coinneach Combe] The pupils are enjoying it, not only because the software and the tool itself is good, it’s also helpful to them to be involved in a project developing software. That’s what they’re learning in school just now.

[Aonghas] Well the for first ever text to speech software in Gaelic, it’s incredibly good.

[Aidan] It will be helpful perhaps to those who find it difficult to retain information as you can be reading and listening to the text at the same time.

[Calum MacDonald – Reporter] The new tool was launched here at Glasgow Gaelic School today. Although it will help school children, opinion suggests that won’t be it’s only function.

[Alasdair Allan MSP] Well for anyone who is learning Gaelic it will be useful to find out how the words sound. Also for people with dyslexia for example or somebody who is blind. It opens up many opportunities to read books online and to use the internet in a brand new way. [Calum MacDonald – Reporter] A tool which could be very helpful to children and perhaps adults learning the language. Calum MacDonald, BBC An Là.

Stories from the BBC ALBA Gaelic news programme "An Là" are uploaded on a weekly basis, with a Gaelic transcript and an English translation. As each Gaelic word is spoken, the accompanying text changes colour. Individual words can be selected with a simple click and the video will play from that point onwards. Learners may find this useful for checking pronunciation.

Bidh gach paragraf Gàidhlig a’ gluasad ri linn na h-aithris, ach faodar cuideachd na bàraichean-sgrolaidh a ghluasad gu earrann shònraichte den aithris. Each Gaelic paragraph automatically scrolls in conjunction with the news report, but the manual scrolling bars can also be used to move the text to a particular section of the report.

Chithear an tar-sgrìobhadh Gàidhlig anns a’ chiad dol a-mach. Ach, gheibhear eadar-theangachadh Beurla den tar-sgrìobhadh le bhith a’ taghadh Beurla no Gàidhlig agus Beurla. The Gaelic transcript is shown by default. However, you can see a translation of the transcript by selecting the English or Gaelic and English tabs.

Tha briathrachas cuideachd ri fhaotainn, le faidhlichean fuaim Gàidhlig na chois. Tha a’ bhriathrachas air a thaghadh bhon aithris fhèin, le measgachadh leithid ainmean-àite, briathrachas naidheachd, gnathasan-cainnt is abairtean. Key vocabulary is also provided, with accompanying Gaelic audio. This is a selected from the vocabulary contained in the news report and may include a selection of place names, news terminology, useful colloquialisms and phrases.

Tha luchd-leasachaidh an làraich a’ moladh gun tèid am brabhsair-lìn as ùire a chleachdadh airson an t-susbaint seo fhaicinn. Am measg nam brabhsairean ùra (saor an-asgaidh) as urrainnear a chleachdadh, tha Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer agus Safari. The developers of the site recommend that an up-to-date web browser is used to ensure the content displays to its optimum.
