Raon goilf Bharraigh

[Doneil MacLeòid - Preseantair] Nise, eadar seo agus toiseach a’ Mhàirt tha Comann Goilf Bharraigh ag amas air £20,000 a chruinneachadh airson togalach ùr air an raon aca. Tha e suidhichte air cnoc àrd agus chan eil àite fasgaidh ann an-dràsta. Le goireas nas fheàrrthathas an dòchas gun toir seo air barrachd dhaoine a dhol ann. Tha an aithris seo aig Shona NicDhòmhnaill.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tha còrr agus 20 bliadhna ann bho thòisich buidheann saor-thoileach air an raon goilf as fhaide an iar ann am Breatainn a chur ri chèile agus a chumail. ‘S e naoi tuill a th’ air cùrsa Bharraigh.

[Murchadh MacFhionghain] An toll mu dheireadh ann an seo ‘s e Leth Bhruaich a th’ air. Croit Ruairidh air an fhear an sin, ‘s tha Creag an Airgid ann ‘s tha ainmean Gàidhlig air na tuill air fad.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tha Creag an Airgid iomchaidh agus na cluicheadairean a-nis ag amas air 20,000 not a thional tro mhaoineachadh sluaigh, airson togalach a chur suas a bhios freagarrach airson goireasan agus uidheamachd a chumail.

[Murchadh MacFhionghain] Tha sinn a’ smaoineachadh gum faigheadh sinn barrachd dhaoine a’ tighinn a-nuas nam biodh clubhouse againn. Gheibheadh sinn clann-sgoile tighinn a-nuas co-dhiù nam biodh clubhouse agus toilets agus rudan againn.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Cha do thog mise a-riamh caman goilf. An seall sibhse dhomh ciamar a chumas mi seo?

[Murchadh MacFhionghain] Cumaibh ur làmh beagan sìos nas fhaide na sin.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Roimhe seo, bha an òigridh a’ faighinn teagasg aig na cluicheadairean.

[Murchadh MacFhionghain] Bha 30 againn de chlann ag ionnsachadh. Ach, mar a bha mi ag ràdh cha robh àite aca airson fasgadh fhaighinn no airson toilets fhaighinn. Ach aon uair ‘s gu faigh sinn an clubhouse tha mi an dòchas gun tig iad air ais. Gun till iad sin a-nuas.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Shona NicDhòmhnaill, BBC An Là, air raon goilf Bharraigh.

Barra golf course

[Doneil MacLeod – Presenter] Now then, between now and the beginning of March the Barra Golf Club aim to raise £20,000 for a new building on the course. It is situated on a high hill and there’s currently no place to shelter. They hope improved facilities will encourage more people to go. Shona MacDonald has this report.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] It’s been more than 20 years since a voluntary group set up and began running Britain’s most westerly golf course. The Barra course has nine holes.

[Murdoch MacKinnon] The last hole is called ‘Leth Bhruaich.’ That one is called ‘Croit Ruairidh’ and there’s ‘Creag an Airgid’ too, there’s a Gaelic name for each hole.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] ’Creag an Airgid’ is quite fitting as the players now aim to raise £20,000 through community funding to build a place with facilities and suitable to keep for storing equipment.

[Murdoch MacKinnon] We think we’d get more people coming down if we had a clubhouse. We’d get the schoolchildren coming down anyway if we had a clubhouse and toilets and things.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] I’ve never held a golf club. Will you show me how to hold it?

[Murdoch MacKinnon] Place your hand a little further down than that.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Before now, the youngsters were being taught by the players.

[Murdoch MacKinnon] We had 30 children learning. But as I was saying there was no place to shelter and no toilets available. But once we get a clubhouse I hope they will return. That they’ll come back down.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Shona MacDonald, BBC An Là, on Barra golf course.
