Cuirm FilmG

[Innes Rothach – Preseantair] Chaidh duaisean farpais FilmG an toirt seachad air an deireadh sheachdain, le òg à Inbhir Nis a’ dèanamh a' chùis air na h-inbhich ‘s i togail na duais airson an cleasaiche as fheàrr. Chaidh an fharpais airson filmichean goirid a chraoladh beò air an eadar-lion airson a' chiad uair. Ach cha tèid gin de na filmichean a shealltainn air an t-sianal Ghàidhlig. Seo Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Tha FilmG air a bhith dol ochd bliadhna. Cothrom dha daoine Film goirid a dhèanamh anns a’ Ghàidhlig le cuideachadh proifeasanta. ‘S e òigridh a th’ aig cridhe na farpais, le còrr air leth-cheud film bhuape-san.

[Dòmhnall Caimbeul] Bheil fòn-làimhe aig a h-uile duine?

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Agus aig cuirm spaideil nan duaisean san Old Fruitmarket ann an Glaschu, bha teachdaireachd aig ceannard MG ALBA dhaibh.

[Dòmhnall Caimbeul] Bidh daoine sìor throd gu bheil e mì-mhodhail a bhith cleachdadh fòn-làimhe nuair a tha thu ann an cuideachd dhaoine eile. Ach tha mise ag ràdh ribh gu bheil riaghailt eile ann sa Ghàidhlig. Tha e ceadaichte, fhad ’s a tha e sa Ghàidhlig. Tha sin ceart a thidsearan, nach eil?

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Bha Ros MacCoinnich às an Eilean Sgitheanach am measg an fheadhainn nach robh feumach air a leithid de chomhairle. Bhuannaich esan duais airson am filmeadair òg as fhèarr.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Film Noir a sgrìobh, a stiùirich agus a chlàr e air a fòn-làimhe le Ros cuideachd a dèanamh na cleasachd.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Agus ‘s e òganach eile a rinn a’ chùis ann am farpais nan inbheach, le à Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis a’ togail duais a’ chleasaiche a b’ fhèarr.

[Kirsty O’ Reilly] Cha robh mi an dùil gum bithinn air buannachadh, bha mi gob-smacked. Bha e sgoinneil.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Thog na sgothan san fhilm aig Fèis Eilean na Hearadh agus thog iadsan prìomh dhuais nan òigridh.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Chaidh a’ chuirm a bha làn rionnagan bho shaoghal Gàidhlig, telebhisean Gàidhlig agus telebhisean Beurla a chraoladh beò air an eadar-lìon. Ach a dh’ aindeoin an soirbheachais, cha tèid gin de na filmichean a shealltainn air an tele.

[Iseabail Nic an t-Sagairt] Tha an sianail mar uinneag agus doras chun na Gàidhlig. Tha àitichean eile ann agus bidh sinn a’ brosnachadh sin agus a’ cur taic ris an sin a thaobh leasachadh na Gàidhlig. Ach a thaobh uinneag agus miann agus doras chun na Gàidhlig ‘s e an sianal am prìomh rud airson sin agus tha sinn a’ faicinn an rud fa leth an-dràsta.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Bha cuideachd farpais ùr ann airson inbhich. Am film èibhinn a b’ fheàrr.

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Na balaich bhon chòmhlan The League of Highland Gentlemen a shoirbhich. Bha iad ag amas air Calmac agus cho tearc ‘sa tha seòlaidhean eadar Malaig ‘s Loch Baghasdail. Ach ‘s e seinneadar eile air an robh iad ag amas ‘s iad a’ togail na duais.

[Eoghainn MacEanraig] Tha e na thlachd gnothach a dhèanamh air Darren MacIlleathain. And I hope none of us have to see Iain Beggs rap ever again!

[Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn - Neach-aithris] Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn, BBC An Là.

FilmG Awards

[Innes Munro – Presenter] The awards for the FilmG competition were presented at the weekend, with a young girl from Inverness defeating the adults and taking the award for the Best Performance. The short films competition was broadcast live on the internet for the first time. But none of the films will be shown on the Gaelic channel. Here’s Coinneach Smith.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] FilmG has been going for 8 years. An opportunity for people to make a short film in Gaelic with professional help. Young people are at the heart of the competition, submitting more than 50 films.

[Donald Campbell] Has everybody got a mobile phone?

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] And at a glitzy awards ceremony in the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow, MG ALBA’s Chief Executive had a message for people.

[Donald Campbell] People always argue that it’s rude to use your phone in the company of others. But what I’m telling you is that there’s a different rule in Gaelic. It’s allowed, as long as it’s in Gaelic. That’s right teachers, isn’t it?

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] Ross MacKenzie from the Isle of Skye was amongst those who didn’t need such advice. He won the prize for the Best Young Filmmaker.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] A Film Noir which he wrote, directed and shot on his mobile phone and Ross also acted in it.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] And it was another youngster who won the adult competition, with a young girl from Inverness Gaelic School winning the prize for the Best Performance.

[Kirsty O’ Reilly] I was not expecting to win this, I was gob-smacked. It was fantastic.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] The clouds lifted in Fèis Eilean na Hearadh’s film and they won the main youth prize.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] The event, which was packed with stars from the Gaelic world, Gaelic TV and English TV, was broadcast live on the internet. But despite its success, none of the films will be shown on TV.

[Iseabail MacTaggart] The channel is like a window and door to Gaelic. Other platforms are also available and we encourage those and support them in order to develop Gaelic. But being a window, a desire and a door to Gaelic, the channel is the main platform and we currently see these two things as separate.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] There was also a new award for adults. The Best Comedy Short.

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] The boys from the band The League of Highland Gentlemen were successful. It was Calmac they were targeting and how infrequent the sailings are between Mallaig and Lochboisdale. However, another singer was their target as they accepted the award .

[Ewen Henderson] It’s an honour to beat Darren MacLean. And I hope none of us have to see Iain Beggs rap ever again!

[Coinneach Smith – Reporter] Coinneach Smith, BBC An Là.

Key vocabulary is also provided, with accompanying Gaelic audio. This is a selected from the vocabulary contained in the news report and may include a selection of place names, news terminology, useful colloquialisms and phrases.
