An do dh’fheuch thusa silidh rùbrab a dhèanamh?

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Agnes] Tha mi a’ dol a dh’fheuchainn rud ùr an-diugh, rud nach do rinn mi riamh ron a seo – silidh rùbrab. Tha mi air blackcurrant jam a dhèanamh ’s tha mi air rudan eile fheuchainn, ach cha do dh’fheuch mi riamh silidh rùbrab. Rùbrab gu leòr againn fhìn a’ fàs anns an lios agus nuair a bha sinn beag cha robh an còrr ann ach sin fhèin. ’S an t-samhradh silidh rùbrab agus blob mhath de bhàrr air uachdar, dè na b’ fhèarr na e fhèin? Tha sinn mar tha air ga ith ann an tart, tha sinn air ga ith ann an crumble, is beag a dh’fhios cia mheud dòigh a tha sinn air fheuchainn am-bliadhna ’s sinn aig an taigh agus an tìde againn airson sin a dhèanamh. Ach an-diugh, tha mi a’ dol a dh’fheuchainn air an silidh ’s chì sinn an obraich e. Cuideachd tha Catrìona a' dol a dhèanamh sgonaichean.

[Agnes] O, tòrr nas fhèarr.

[Agnes] Cheers!

[Agnes] Tha e math.

Have you tried to make rhubarb jam?

English Beurla

[Agnes] I’m going to try something new today, something I haven’t tried before – rhubarb jam. I’ve made blackcurrant jam and other things but I’ve never tried rhubarb jam. We have plenty of our own rhubarb growing in the garden and when we were young it’s all we had. In the summer, rhubarb jam and a good blob of cream on top, what could be better than that? We’ve already eaten it in a tart, we’ve eaten it in a crumble, who knows how many different ways we’ve tried it this year while we’re stuck in the house and we have the time to do it. But today, I’m going to try jam and we’ll see if it works. Catriona is also making scones.

[Agnes] Oh, far better.

[Agnes] Cheers!

[Agnes] It’s good.
