An teaghlach aig Chloe

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Chloe] Chloe Steele an seo ann an Uibhist a Deas. Bidh mi a’ smaointinn air Dad gu math tric an-dràsta oir tha tòrr obair aige ri dhèanamh air a’ chruit. Tha mo phiuthar, Dawn, a’ dol sìos chun a’ mhachaire ga chuideachadh a h-uile latha. Bidh i a’ dèanamh obair na sgoile tràth ’s a mhadainn is an uair sin a’ dol sìos còmhla ri Dad le tì is biadh is rudan mar sin.

[Athair Chloe] Tha mi trang a’ treabhadh an-dràsta agus feumaidh mi dhèanamh fhad ’s a tha mi a-staigh. Tha mi ag obair air falbh airson dà sheachdain aig an àm so tha mi a-staigh an-dràsta airson dà sheachdain. So feumaidh mi dhèanamh fhad ’s a tha mi a-staigh eagal ’s gu bheil sinn glaiste air a’ bhàta air sàillibh a’ choròna-bhìorais a tha seo. Agus an nighean òg agam a thig a-nuas a’ toirt dhomh hand as dèidh obair sgoile a’ dhèanamh an-dràsta. Bidh ise air an tractar eile, bidh i a’ diosgadh ‘s a’ clìoraigeadh an treabh agam.

[Chloe] Tha mo phiuthar eile Cara aig an taigh a h-uile latha a’ dèanamh tòrr obair sgoile oir tha i ag iarraidh a bhith na mental health nurse. Tha i an dòchas gum bi na exams aice an-ath-bhliadhna. ’S e àm doirbh a tha seo dhan h-uile duine ’s tha dragh oirnn, ach tha sinn an dòchas gum bi a’ bheatha againn ann an Uibhist air ais mar a bha i ann an ùine nach bi ro fhada.

Chloe’s family

English Beurla

[Chloe] Chloe Steele here in South Uist, I think about Dad a lot right now because he has a lot of work to do on the croft. My sister, Dawn, goes down to the Machair too every day. She does her schoolwork early in the morning and then goes down to Dad with tea and food and things like that.

[Chloe’s dad] I’m busy ploughing now and I need to do it while I’m at home. I work away for two weeks at a time so I’m home now for two weeks. So, I need to do it while I’m at home in case we get stuck on the boat because of this coronavirus. And my youngest daughter comes over to give me a hand after finishing her schoolwork now. She is on the other tractor, she harrows, and she clears my plough.

[Chloe] My other sister Cara is at home everyday doing lots of schoolwork because she wants to be a mental health nurse. She hopes her exams will be on next year. It’s a difficult time for everyone and we’re worried, but we hope that life will be back to how it was in Uist soon.
