Sgeama na Cille Bige san Eilean Sgitheanach

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Angela NicIlleathain - Presentair] Thuirt Prionnsabal Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Boyd Robasdan, gu bheil e an dòchas gun tèid na taighean a thèid a thogail ann am bail’ ùr ann an Slèite anns an Eilean Sgitheanach a’ reic ri daoine aig a bheil ceangal ris a’ cholaiste, no dualchas na sgìre seach feadhainn aig nach eil gnothach ris an àit’ no an cultar. Tòisichidh obair air sgeama na Cille Bige am-bliadhna agus bu chòir gum bi faisg air ceud taigh ùr air an làraich air a’ cheann thall. Thadhail Buidheann Buileachaidh na Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd air an làraich an-dè far an dh’ fhuair iad cothrom ceistean fhaighneachd mun phròiseact. Tha an aithris-sa aig Doneil MacLeòid.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach -aithris] Nochd buill Buidheann Bhuileachaidh na Gàidhlig aig comhairle na Gàidhealtachd anns an t-Sabhal Mhòr an-dè. Tha a’ Chomhairle agus a’ cholaiste ag obrachadh gu math dlùth air a chèile airson pròiseact baile ùr na Cill Bige a thogail timcheall na colaiste ann an Slèite an Eilean Sgitheanaich. Chaidh luchd-obrach an t-Sabhail Mhòir a cheasnachadh mu seòrsa taigheadas a bhiodh aig an làraich agus ciamar a dheigheadh a riarachadh a-mach. A rèir choltais, thathas ag obrachadh air na planaichean sin fhathast

[Hamish Friseil] Agus an robh iad a’ dol ga dhèanadh iad fhèin no an robh iad a’ dol a dhèanamh na uachdarain sòisealta, mara chanas iad, no an robh iad a’ dol a bhith coimhead ga dhèanamh còmhla ri buidheann eile, mar a’ chomhairle no ‘s dòcha buidheann taigheadais. Ach aig an ìre a tha seo, chan eil iad buileach cinnteach ach tha iad air dèanamh mòran còmhraidh còmhla rin fhèin anns a’ chomhairle, còmhla ri na h-oifigearan againne, ciamar a thèid iad air adhart ris an sin agus tha sinn toilichte gu leòr sin a dhèanadh agus tha sinn toilichte gu bheil sinn a’ toirt an taic a tha sin dhaibh agus aig deireadh an chì sinn ciamar a dh’ obraicheas sin a-mach; an dòigh anns am bi an taigheadas, an obair taigheadais a tha seo air a chur air adhart, ciamar a thèid iad an togail agus carson a bhios iad air an togail.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach -aithris] Tha cuid anns an sgìre draghail mun bhuaidh a bhiodh aig leasachadh cho buileach mòr. Tha e follaiseach gu bheil a’ cholaiste am beachd gun gabh an luchd-obrach aca fhèin cuid de na taighean a dheigheadh a thogail, ach tha fhathast ceist air cuid sa sgìre mu uimhir a dhaoine ma dh’fhaoidte a ghluasad a-staigh dhan cheàrnaidh.

[Boyd Robasdan] Chan eil sinn ag iarraidh taighean a reic aig prìs àrd gu daoine aig nach eil gnothach sam bith ris an sgìre, no ris a' chultar. B'fheàrr leinn cus, gur e daoine a bhuineas dhan àite, aig a bheil ceangal ris a' Cholaiste fhèin, aig a bheil ceangal ris an dualchas a th' againn an seo. Tha e cudromach gum bi cridhe Gàidhlig anns a' choimhearsnachd ùir a tha seo

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach -aithris] Fhad ‘s a tha na comhairlichean ann, chaidh iomradh a dhèanamh air mar a tha an t-Sabhal Mhòr air thighinn air adhart thar an fhichead bliadhna a tha a’ cholaiste air a bhith a’ dol. Agus dh’ fhaighneachd na buill an gealltanas obrachadh gu dlùth le luchd-obrach an t-Sabhail, gu h-àraidh air Cille Beag. Doneil MacLeòid, BBC An Là, Slèite, An Eilean Sgitheanaich.

Kilbeg scheme in Skye

English Beurla

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] The Principle of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Boyd Robertson, said that he hopes that the houses that will be built in a new town in Sleat in the Isle of Skye will be sold to people with a link with the college, or heritage of the are, instead of those who have nothing to do with the area, or culture. The work will start on the Kilbeg scheme this year and there should be about 100 houses on the site evenually. The Gaelic Implementation Group at Highland Council visited the site yesterday where they got an opportunity to ask questions about the project. This report from Doneil MacLeod.

[Doneil MacLeod – Reporter] The Gaelic Implementation Group at Highland Council arrived at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig yesterday. The council and the college are working very closely together on the project on the new town in Kilbeg built around the college in Sleat in Skye. Staff at the Sabhal Mòr were questioned about what sort of housing will be on the site and how they should be allocated. It would appear that they are still working on those plans.

[Hamish Fraser] And are they going to do this themselves, or are they going to be social landlords, as they say, or are they going to look at with another group, like the council or maybe an housing group. But, at this stage, they are not quite sure, but they are having lots of discussion amongst themselves, with our officers, how they will move forward with that and we are happy enough to offer help and at the end of the day we will see how that works out; what the approach to the, the housing work that will go forward, how they will be built and why they will be built.

[Doneil MacLeod – Reporter] Many in the area are concerned with the effect that such a large development will have. It is clear that the college believes that their own staff will take many of the houses that will be built, but many in the area still question the number of people who might move in to the corner.

[Boyd Robertson] We don’t want to sell houses at a high price to people who have nothing to do with the area, or the culture. We would much prefer that it was people from the area, who have a link to the college itself, a link to the heritage that we have here. It is important that there will be a Gaelic heart in this new community.

[Doneil MacLeod – Reporter] Whilst the councillors are here, there was a report on how the Sabhal Mòr has come on over the past forty years that it has existed. As the members asked, they promised to work closely with the Sabhal Mòr staff, especially on Kilbeg. Doneil MacLeod, BBC An Là, Sleat, Skye.
