Boireannaich an Eilein Sgitheanaich a' buannachadh farpais iomain MhicIain

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Preseantair] Iomain a-nis agus bhuannaich boireannaich an Eilean Sgiathanaich farpais iomain MhicIain anns a Ghearastan air an deireadh sheachdain. Bha na h-eileanaich ro làidir do Loch Abar sa chuairt mu dheireadh. Aig an aon am bha sgioba a' Ghearastain a' rannsachadh faic a bheil uidh gu leor sgioba bhoireannach a' chruthachadh. Tha an aithris seo aig Doneil MacLeòid.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Cha robh a h-uile càil càirdeil aig co-fharpais MhicIain anns a Ghearastan air an deireadh sheachdain nuair a chruinnich grunn sgiobaidhean camanachd nam ban a dh’aindeoin droch shìde air na rathaidean.

[Caitlin NicIlleathain] ‘S e farpais bhoireannach is sinn anns an geama iomain. Tha e a tighinn mun cuairt a h-uile bliadhna anns an Nevis Centre anns an Gearastan. Tha tòrr sgiobaidhean a’ tionndaidh suas thairis air Alba.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Agus dh’ fhaodadh aon ùr a bhith ann leis an Gearastan a’ brosnachadh ùidh air an là.

[Caitlin NicIlleathain] Cha chuala mi seo ach an roimhe ach tha mi smaoineachadh gur e naidheachd math a th’ann, ‘s dòcha sgioba a bhios a’ farpais an aghaidh Glen Garry agus Lochabair anns na bliadhnaichean ri tighinn.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Rinn an t-Eilean Sgitheanach a’ chùis air Gleann Garadh san iar chuairt dheireannach airson gluasad troimhe agus Loch Abair a’ dèanamh an gnothach air Bàideanach agus Srath Spè. Aig a’ cheann thall ge-ta bha na Sgitheanaich fada ro làidir, a’ buannachadh 5-1.

[Lauren Doherty] ‘S e geamaichean math a th’unnta an seo agus tha e an còmhnaidh math tighinn an seo agus tha e gu math luath. Tha na geamaichean a-muigh beagan nas slaodaiche ach an seo tha e gu math luath sa tha feum agad faighinn an tadhal uabhasach luath.

[Doneil MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] ‘S e seo an dàrna turas an sreath a chèile a tha an t-Eilean Sgitheanach air buannachadh Cupa MhicIain, ged a shaoileadh tu bhon an sgiobair nach robh iad cleachdte ri cupanan.

Skye women win the Johnstone Cup Shinty competition

English Beurla

[Calum MacDonald – Presenter] Shinty now and the Isle of Skye women’s shinty team won the Johnstone Cup in Fort William at the weekend. The islanders were too strong for Lochaber in the final. At the same time, the Fort William team was investigating whether there was enough interest to create a women’s team. Doneil MacLeod has this report.

[Doneil MacLeod – Reporter] Not everything was friendly at the Johnstone cup competition in Fort William at the weekend, when several women’s shinty teams met despite bad weather conditions affecting the roads.

[Caitlin Maclean] It’s a women’s shinty competition. It takes place each year in the Nevis Centre in Fort William. Lots of teams from across Scotland turn up.

[Doneil MacLeod – Reporter] And there could be a new one with Fort William encouraging new interest on the day.

[Caitlin Maclean] I only heard this the other day, but I think it’s good news, perhaps a team to compete against Glen Garry and Lochaber in the years to come.

[Doneil MacLeod - Reporter] Skye beat Glen Garry in the in the semi-final to go through and Lochaber got the better of Badenoch and Strathspey. At the end of the day though Skye were too strong, winning 5-1.

[Lauren Doherty] They are good games here and it’s always good to come here and it’s very fast. Outdoor games are a little slower, but here it’s very fast and you need to score very quickly.

[Doneil MacLeod - Reporter] This is the second time running that Skye have won the Johnstone Cup, although you would think from the captain that they weren’t used to trophies.
