Taic airson cosgaisean cumhachd ann an sgìrean Leòdhais

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Iain MacAonghais – Preseantair] Nise cuiridh Urras an Rubha agus Sanndabhaig agus Taighean Innse Gall pròiseact air bhonn anns a bheil luach cha-mhòr £400,000 airson dèiligeadh ri bochdainn connaidh san sgìre. Le taic bho Stòras Atharrachaidh na Sìde, thèid dithis fhastadh airson solais LED a chur gu gach dachaigh san Rubha agus Sanndabhaig, rud a shàbhaileas £100 sa bhliadhna air cosgaisean cumhachd. Tha tuilleadh aig Dòmhnall MacLaomainn

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Ann an co-bhanntachd le Taighean Innse Gall tha Urras an Rubha ‘s Sanndabhaig an dòchas togail dhaoine a-mach à bochdainn connaidh sa sgìre. Tha am pròiseact luach £370,000 thairis air còig bliadhna. Le Stòras Atharrachaidh na h-Aimsir a’ cur taic de £70,000.

[Dòmhnall Iain MacSuain] Tha mi smaoineachadh gun dèan e diofar mòr, gu h-àraid anns an sgìre againn fhèin, far a bheil fhios againn gu bheil daoine fulang le bhith cosg fada cus air teasachadh nan taighean aca. Tha e gu math duilich sin a dhèanamh leis an aimsir a th’ againn agus tha fhios againn gu bheil na h-Eileanan an Iar ann an aon de na h-àitichean as bochda, mar na taighean, mar, as bochda anns an Rìoghachd a thaobh teasachadh agus an t-airgead a tha daoine cosg a teasachadh nan taighean.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] dìreach a thèid a dhèanamh airson bochdainn connaidh a’ leasachadh? Mar thoiseach tòiseachadh, thèid globaichean ùra LED a thoirt seachad dhan a h-uile dachaigh san sgìre.

[Ciorstaidh NicLeòid] Tha iad fada nas fhèarr nan fheadhainn a th’ann an-dràsta. Tha an aon solas a’ tighinn a-mach aiste ach tha thu dol sìos bho 50 watt sìos gu còig no sia watt. So tha e sàbhaladh dealan airson an taigh ‘s tha e fèir cuideachadh airson bills daoine thoirt sìos.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Tha coimeas aig na solais LED maireachdainn 20 bliadhna. Ach tha barrachd na globaichean ùra an cois am pròiseact sa.

[Ciorstaidh NicLeòid] Bidh sinn a’ dol timcheall an taighe agus bidh sinn a’ coimhead air an taigh agus rudan a gheibheas sinn a dhèanamh san taigh. Mar insulation - gheibheadh sinn internal wall insulation no room roof insulation a dhèanamh agus rudan mar sin. Fèir airson cumail an teas am broinn an taighe. Bidh sinn a’ coimhead air rudan mar thermostats agus programmers agus rudan mar sin airson fèir cuideachadh daoine cumail an dealan aca sìos.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Thèid neach fhastadh airson an obair a dhèanamh agus tha buill an urrais dòchasach gu bheil tòrr a bharrachd pròiseactan dhen leithid san amharc, le airgead na tuath-gaoithe tighinn a-steach.

[Tormod MacLeòid] Tha mi smaoineachadh gur e rud mìorbhaileach a th’ ann agus mur a h-eil mi air mo mhòr mhealladh leis an urras tha seo aig An Rubha agus Sanndabhaig, chan eil ann an seo ach a’ chiad tòiseachadh.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Ma chì muinntir An Rubha ‘s Sanndabhaig fear no bho Taighean Innse Gall aig an doras, dèan cinnteach gun leig sibh a-steach iad. Dòmhnall MacLaomainn, BBC An Là, An Rubha.

Help with energy costs for areas of Lewis

English Beurla

[Iain Macinnes – Presenter] Now, the Point and Sandwick Trust and Taighean Innse Gall are setting up a project worth almost £400,000 in order to deal with fuel poverty in the area. With support from the Climate Challenge Fund, two people will be employed to supply each home in Point and Sandwick with LED bulbs, something which could save £100 a year on energy bills. Donald Lamont reports.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] In partnership with Taighean Innse Gall, the Point and Sandwick Trust hope to help people out of fuel poverty in the area. The project is worth £370,000 over five years. The Climate Challenge Fund are providing support of £70,000.

[Donald John MacSween] I think it will make a great difference, especially in our area, where we know people are suffering by spending too much money on heating their houses. It’s quite difficult to do with the weather we get and as we know, houses in the Western Isles are one of the poorest areas in the country regarding heating and the money people spend heating their houses.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] What exactly can be done to improve fuel poverty? To begin with, new LED bulbs will be given to each home in the area.

[Kirsty MacLeod] They are much better than the existing ones. The provide the same amount of light but the wattage is reduced from 50 watt down to five or six watt. It therefore saves on electricity in the house and helps reduce people’s bills.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] The LED bulbs can last 20 years. But there’s more to this project than simply new blubs.

[Kirsty MacLeod] We’ll go around the houses, take a look around and assess what we can do in the house. Things such as insulation – we could do some internal wall insulation or room roof insulation and things like that. Just to keep the heat in the house. We look at things like thermostats and programmers to help people keep their energy usage low.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Two people will be employed to carry out this work and the trust members are hopeful that many more similar projects will be on the horizon, with funding for the windfarm coming through.

[Norman MacLeod] I think it’s a wonderful thing and unless I am very mistaken, this is only the very beginning for the Point and Sandwick Trust.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] If the people of Point or Sandwick see a man or woman from Taighean Innse Gall at their doors, be sure and let them in. Donald Lamont, BBC An Là, Point.
