Pontoons ùra aig Caolas Ulbha

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Dòmhnall Angaidh Moireasdan – Preseantair] Dh’ fhosgail an acarsaid son bàtaichean-seòlaidh no pontoons aig Caolas Ulbha gu h-oifigeil Disathairne. Tha e mar phàirt de phròiseact anns a bheil luach de mu £400,000 airson leasachadh a dhèanamh sa choimhearsnachd agus teaghlaichean a chumail anns an sgìre. Tha Seonaidh MacCoinnich ag aithris.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Còisir Ghàidhlig An Eilein Mhuilich a’ gabhail Cearcall a’ Chuain ri taobh na mara ann an Caolas Ulbha. Bha seo am measg nan tachartasan a bha dol air an latha airson fosgladh oifigeil nam pontoons air taobh siar eilein Mhuile. ‘S chan ann a-mhàin airson na luchd-turais le bàtaichean-seòlaidh a tha iad, ach airson gnìomhachasan ionadail cuideachd.

[Iain Moireasdan] Oh bha sinn ag ùisneachadh nam pontoons cheana. Bha sinn a-staigh an seo o chionn ceithir seachdainean a-nis agus tha iad uabhasach math. Chan eil sruth làn, an trioblaid a bha againn san slip way fhios agad, chan eil sin a’ tachairt idir a-nis.

[Cailean Moireasdan] ’S e leasachadh gu math cudromach airson an àite seo a th’ann oir bidh bàtaichean-seòlaidh a’ tighinn an seo agus bidh sin math airson na sgìre agus airson nan gnìomhachasan a tha seo.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Bha tòrr thachartasan a’ dol Disathairne airson luchd-turais agus teaghlaichean. Chan ann a-mhàin mu na pontoons a tha am pròiseact. Nas fhaide air a’ mhìos-sa tha obair togail gu bhith tòiseachadh air thaigh agus iad rim faotainn aig prìs reusanta airson teaghlaichean òga.

[Alasdair Satchel] Tha tòrr taighean làithean-saora ann agus chan eil àitichean mòra airson daoine sa choimhearsnachd fuireach. So le thaigh ùr gan togail airson clann agus teaghlaichean na coimhearsnachd tha sin sgoinneil airson na sgoile, airson eaconamaidh na sgìre, a h-uile rud.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Agus chan eil an seo ach a’ chiad cheum.

[Moray Finch] This is phase one for the pontoon. We need to go back to the community and say, “do you want a phase two?” to bring in a shore facility with toilets and showers. Maybe a small local shop.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Seonaidh MacCoinnich, BBC An Là, Muile.

New pontoons in Ulva Ferry

English Beurla

[Donald Morrison – Presenter] A pontoon facility for sailing boats in Ulva Ferry opened officially on Saturday. It’s part of a £400,000 project for community development and to keep families in the area. Seonaidh MacKenzie reports.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] The Isle of Mull Gaelic Choir singing ‘Cearcall a’ Chuain’ by the sea in Ulva Ferry. This was among the events taking place on the official opening day of the pontoons on the west side of the Isle of Mull. And they are not only for tourists with sailing boats, but for local businesses too.

[Iain Morrison] Oh we’re already using the pontoons. We were in here four weeks ago and they are very good. The current, the problem we faced at the slip way, that’s not an issue anymore.

[Colin Morrison] It’s a very important development to this area as sailing boats come here, it’ll be good for the area and for the businesses here.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] Lots of events for tourists and families took place on Saturday. The project isn’t only about the pontoons. Later this month building work will begin on two houses which will be available at a reasonable price for young families.

[Alasdair Satchel] There are lots of holiday homes here and not many places for people in the community to live. Two new houses being built for children and families in the community is an excellent thing for the school, the economy of the area, everything.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] And this is only the first step.

[Moray Finch] This is phase one for the pontoon. We need to go back to the community and say, “do you want a phase two?” to bring in a shore facility with toilets and showers, maybe a small local shop.
