Diarmaid agus Gràinne (2)
Tha mi ag innse dhuibh an sgeulachd thraidiseanta “Diarmaid agus Gràinne”. Tha i ceangailte ri Beinn Ghulbain ann an Gleann Sìdh. Theich Diarmaid le Gràinne. Ach bha ise fo ghealladh-pòsaidh do Fhionn.
Bha Gràinne air a dhol an aghaidh Dhiarmaid, ge-tà. Bha Diarmaid a’ sabaid le Ciofach Mac a’ Ghoill. Stob Gràinne sgian ann an cas Dhiarmaid.
Theich Diarmaid. Bha e beò air èiginn. Dh’fhàs fhalt. Dh’fhàs fheusag. Bha iad cho fada ’s nach do dh’aithnich duine e. Chaidh e far an robh Gràinne agus Ciofach. Ach dh’aithnich Gràinne e. Thug Ciofach ionnsaigh air. Ach bha Diarmaid làidir. Mharbh e Ciofach. Agus theich e a-rithist.
Lean Gràinne air Diarmaid. Lorg i e. Bha an sgian a stob i na chois fhathast ann. Cha b’ urrainn dha a toirt às. Tharraing Gràinne a-mach i. Bha eagal air Diarmaid gun robh Fionn a’ dol ga lorg. Chùm iad a dol. Lorg iad allt. Thog iad taigh. Ach bha leapannan air leth aca.
Bha Diarmaid a’ dèanamh shoithichean fiodha a-rithist. Bha na sliseagan a’ dol sìos leis an allt. Latha a bha seo, bha Fionn a’ sealg anns an sgìre. Chunnaic e na sliseagan.
“Is iad seo sliseagan Dhiarmaid,” thuirt e.
“Chan iad,” fhreagair càch. “Chan eil Diarmaid beò.”
Glaodhaich iad. Fhreagair Diarmaid iad. Oir gheall e gun robh e a’ dol fhreagairt glaodh na Fèinne an-còmhnaidh. Chaidh e sìos airson coinneachadh riutha. Choinnich e ri Fionn. Chuir Fionn dùbhlan roimhe. Bha Fionn fhathast ag iarraidh dìoghaltas. Dh’iarr e air Diarmaid an torc nimhe air Beinn Ghulbain a mharbhadh. Ghabh Diarmaid ris an dùbhlan.
Lean Diarmaid air an torc airson làithean. Mu dheireadh, fhuair e faisg gu leòr air airson a mharbhadh. Thill Diarmaid. Thuirt e gun do mharbh e an torc. Ach bha Fionn fhathast feargach is eudmhor. Bha fios aige gun robh aon laigse aig Diarmaid. Bha ball-dòbhrain aige air bonn a choise. Bha comas aig calg tuirc Diarmaid a mharbhadh. Bha sin le bhith a’ briseadh a’ bhuill-dhòbhrain. Chì sinn dè thachair anns an ath Litir.
