The Gaelic o has three short and two long sounds. We've included some examples to help you identify these different sounds in Gaelic words.
First, the short o sounds:

Now, the long ò sound is represented by a grave accent ( ` ). There are two long ò sounds that can be heard in Gaelic:
awe
a song
oh
big
