Sràid a' Bhanca dùinte

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Iain MacIlleathain - Preseantair] Tha e a’ tighinn gu bàrr gum fuirich Sràid a’ Bhanca ann an Inbhir Nis dùinte nas fhaide na bha dùil agus obair a’ leantainn air sgeama dìon thuiltean a’ bhaile. Bha còir aige fosgladh air an deicheamh dhen mhìos-sa fhèin. Agus obair mhòr gu bhith a’ dol cuideachd air Drochaid Cheasaig airson an dàrna bliadhna air sreath a chèile. Thuirt an comhairle ged-thà gum bi Sràid a’ Bhanca dùinte chun a’ Chèitein gus am bi an obair deiseil ro sheasan na turasachd. Seo Ailean MacLeòid.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Tha obair air a bhith a’ dol an seo air Sraid a’ Bhanca, am meadhan baile Inbhir Nis bhon Lùnastal an-uiridh. Tha an sgeama anns a bheil luach ochd puing a còig millean not airson ochd-ceud taigh agus cheud gnìomhachas a dhìon bho thuiltean. Tha dàil air tighinn air an obair ged-thà is duilgheadasan air a bhith aca le clachan mòra a chaidh a lorg fon t-sràid air an taobh-sa dhen abhainn. Aig toiseach a’ phròiseict, bha dòchas ann gum biodh an obair deiseil mun àm-sa. Ach cha tachair sin idir. Thuirt Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd an-diugh gum biodh an obair a’ leantainn a-nis chun a’ Chèitein co-dhiù. Agus iad airson crìoch a chur air an obair ron t-samhradh, mus tig na mìltean de luchd-turais a chèilidh air a’ bhaile.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Bha dùil gum biodh an obair deiseil am meadhan a’ bhaile mus tòisich obair an seo air Drochaid Cheasaig a-rithist. Ach, thàinig dearbhadh an-diugh nach tachair sin.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Leis an rud a’ dol aig an aon àm, tha draghan a-nis gum bi cùisean gu math riaslach dha dràibhearan fhad ‘s a tha an obair a’ leantainn. Thuirt a’ chomhairle gum biodh iad a’ cumail sùil gheur air trafaig sa bhaile sna mìosan a tha romhainn. Agus gum bi iad a’ gabhail ceumannan airson a’ bhuaidh a th’ aig an obair a chumail fo smachd. Ag atharrachadh mar a tha na solais ag obair, mar eisimpleir.

[Ailean MacLeòid – Neach-aithris] Thuirt iad cuideachd nam biodh a’ bhuaidh aig Sraid a’ Bhanca a bhith dùinte fhad ‘s a tha an obair a’ leantainn air Drochaid Cheasaig ro dhona gum fosgail iad an rathad a-rithist taobh a-staigh là. Le seachdain ri dhol mus tòisich obair air an drochaid, bidh muinntir baile Inbhir Nis an dòchas nach bi feum air sin idir. Bank Street closed

English Beurla

[Iain MacLean - Presenter] It has come to light that Bank Street in Inverness will be closed longer than hoped and work will continue on a flood protection scheme. It should have reopened on the tenth of this month. And major work is planned on Kessock Bridge for the second year in a row. The council said that Bank Street will be closed until May until the work is finished before the tourist season. Here’s Allan MacLeod.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] Work has been happening here in Bank Street, in Inverness since the middle of August last year. The scheme is worth £8.5 million and is to protect 800 houses and 200 businesses from floods. There is a hindrance to their work, though and there though and they have had troubles with large rocks were found under the street on that side of the river. At the start of the project, there was hope that the work would be ready about the time. That will not happen now. Highland council said today that the work would continue now until May. And they want to finish the work before the summer before the thousands of tourists come to visit the town.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] It was expected that the work would be complete in the middle of the twon before work commenced on the Kessock Bridge again. But, proof came that that will not happen.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] With the two things happening at the same time, there is concerns that matters will be too chaotic to drivers. The council said that they would keep a close eye on traffic in the town in the coming months. And they will take steps to keep the work under control. Changing how the lights are working, for example.

[Allan MacLeod – Reporter] They also said that if the effect of Bank Street closing as they were working on the Kessock Bridge too bad that they would open the road again within a day. With a week to go before work begins on the bridge, the people of the town of Inverness will be hopeful that they won’t need that at all. Allan MacLeod, BBC An Là, Inverness.
