Mearachd is luach de chòrr is £14m a chur air taigh ann an Steòrnabhagh

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Iain Macaonghais – Preseantair] Nise airson greiseag bheag bha taighean air sràid àbhaisteach ann an Steòrnabhagh am measg an fheadhainn bu daoire ann am Breatainn air fad. B’e mearachd a bh’ann ge-tà a rinn làrach-linn thaighean Zoopla, a’ cur luach de chòrr is £14millean air fear de na dachaighean air Slighe Bhalmerino. Tha an aithris seo aig Eilidh NicLeòid.

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Neach-aithris] Tha 32 dachaigh air Slighe Bhalmerino. Tòrr aca a bha ùr bho shealladh na Comhairle. Sràid àbhaisteach, cùl, sàbhach, duileagach. Anns an fharsaingeachd, dh’ fheumadh tu mu £150,000 a phàigheadh son fuireach an seo, ach chan ann a rèir Zoopla.

[Anndra MacFhionghain] Bha iad ag ràdh gu robh an t-uabhas seòmraichean-caidil againn agus gu robh an taigh dìreach cho, cho daor agus cha robh mise ga thuigsinn nuair a chunnaic mi an toiseach e, cha robh mi ga chreidsinn, carson a bha a’ phrìs a seo bha cho mòr.

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Neach-aithris] Thuirt Zoopla gum b’ fhiach na taighean còrr is millean not anns an fharsaingeachd, ach b’ e an rud a b’ annasaiche, a’ phrìs a chuir iad mu choinneamh àireamh 11.

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Neach-aithris] A rèir Zoopla b’ e luach an taighe a tha seo air mo chùlaibh, £14, 119, 713 uile gu lèir. Barrachd na phàigheadh tu airson taigh mòr leòmach ann an Knightsbridge ann am meadhan Lunnainn.

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Neach-aithris] Thuirt Zoopla cuideachd gu robh bàta fuirich anns an robh còig seòmraichean caidil, leis an taigh, ged a tha an t-sràid pìos math air falbh bhon mhuir. Dh’ aidich a’ chompanaidh gur e mearachd theicnigeach a rinn iad agus an uair sin chuir iad na noughts agus na notaichean aca ceart.

[Anndra MacFhionghain] Bha daoine smaoineachadh gun reiceadh sinn na taighean againn agus gun gluaiseadh sinn gu taigh mòr air choreigin. Ach, gu mì-fhortanach, bha na figearan ceàrr agus cha robh iad ceàrr ro fhada is an uair sin chaidh iad air ais dìreach gu na figearan ceart a bha a’ dèanamh barrachd ciall dhuinne agus aig deireadh an latha bha e gu math èibhinn.

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Neach-aithris] Eilidh NicLeòid, BBC An Là, Slighe Bhalmerino. Uair air a mheas mar an dàrna sràid bu bheairtiche ann an Alba.

Home in Stornoway mistakenly valued at more than £14m

English Beurla

[Iain Macinnes – Presenter] For a little while, houses on a regular street in Stornoway were amongst the most expensive in the whole of Britain. It was a mistake though, made by the housing website Zoopla, which valued one of the houses on Balmerino Drive at £14million. Eilidh MacLeod has this report.

[Eilidh MacLeod – Reporter] There are 32 houses on Balmerino Drive. A lot of them at one time new council houses. A regular, quiet, leafy back street. In general, you’d need to pay around £150,000 to stay here, but not according to Zoopla.

[Andrew MacKinnon] They were saying we had lots of bedrooms and that the house was very, very expensive. I didn’t understand it when I saw it at first, I didn’t believe it, why the price was so high.

[Eilidh MacLeod – Reporter] Zoopla said the houses were generally worth £1m but the strangest thing was the price they set against number 11.

[Eilidh MacLeod – Reporter] According to Zoopla the value of the house behind me was £14,119, 713 in total. More than you would pay for a big fancy house in Knightsbridge in Central London.

[Eilidh MacLeod – Reporter] Zoopla also said that a 5 bedroomed house boat came with the house, although the street is quite a bit away from the sea. The company admitted it was a technical error and afterwards corrected their noughts and notes.

[Andrew MacKinnon] People were thinking we’d sell up and move to some big house. But fortunately, the figures were incorrect and did not remain this way and before long they went back to the correct figures which made sense to us. It was all very amusing at the end of the day.

[Eilidh MacLeod – Reporter] Eilidh MacLeod, BBC An Là, Balmerino Drive. Once deemed the second most expensive street in Scotland.
