Àm doirbh don fheadhainn a tha glacte san taigh

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Dòmhnall Angaidh Moireasdan] Nise, don fheadhainn a th’ air a bhith gan cumail iad fhèin fa leth air adhbharan slàinte no a’ shield-adh, ’s e àm doirbh a th’ air a bhith ann. Chan eil iad air an cuingealachadh cho mòr sa bha iad san lockdown mu dheireadh, ach feumaidh iad fhathast a bhith uabhasach faiceallach. Leis an sin ma-thà, ’s e faothachadh a bhios ann dhaibh nuair a gheibh iad a’ bhanachdach mar a chuala Eileen NicDhòmhnaill bho chuid a tha ga fhaighinn an t-seachdain sa.

[Eileen NicDhòmhnaill] ‘S e slànachadh a tha seo do Hannah. An-uiridh, cha b’ urrainn dhi cas a chur a-mach air geata a’ ghàrraidh ri linn Covid. Bha i glacte san taigh san Eilean Sgitheanach fad mhìosan. Tha cystic fibrosis oirre. Ged a dh’fheumas i bhith faiceallach san lockdown a tha seo, chan eil gnothaichean cho teann sa b’ àbhaist.

[Hannah NicDiarmaid] Bha e dìreach cho teann, cha b’ urrainn dhuinn mòran a dhèanamh ach a-nis tha beagan a bharrachd de shaorsa agam. Faodaidh mi a-nis a dhol dhan na bhùithtean, chan eil sin cho mòr ach dhòmhsa, cha robh mi fiù ’s anns a’ cho-op againn airson cha mhòr bliadhna ’s cha bhi mi a’ dol a-muigh, a’ dol an sin gu tric ach chaidh mi a-staigh airson a’ chiad turas dìreach ron na Nollaige, Nollaig sa chaidh agus bha e cho neònach a dhol a-staigh a-rithist ach rudan mar sin, chan eil e cho teann ’s nach bu chòir dhomh gan dèanamh ach tha mi fhathast a’ feuchainn a bhith faiceallach.

[Eileen NicDhòmhnaill] Tha agus Seonaidh, ghabh e dà stròcaichean goirid. ’S iomadh rathad a shiubhal e fhèin ann an Baile Inbhir Nis nuair a bha e a’ teagasg draibheadh. Faodaidh e leum dhan a’ chàr san lockdown a tha seo ma thogras e. Tha saorsa a bharrachd aige.

[Seonaidh Park] Tha cus eagail air daoine a dhol a-mach co-dhiù. Chan eil mise a’ dol a-mach ach glè ainneamh, ’s dòcha uair sa mhìos ma tha càil a dhìth orm no mar sin ach chan eil mi a’ dol a-mach ach dìreach an uair sin fhèin. Bidh mi a’ dol timcheall ann a sheo, air cùl an taighe agus a-mach anns an t-sead agam agus rudan mar sin ach saoilidh mi gu bheil e eadar-dhealaichte ris an-uiridh.

[Eileen NicDhòmhnaill] Thàinig eadar-dhealachadh mòr air beatha an fhir-chiùil Ruairidh MacIllEathain às Ulapul cuideachd, chan eil cosnadh aige an-dràsta. Bha aige chumail e fhèin air falbh bho dhaoine agus an sac air. Chan eil fios cinnteach aige cuin a dh’fhosglas na taighean-òsta anns a bheil e ag obair no cuin dìreach a gheibh e a’ bhanachdach. Le bòrd na slàinte a’ dol tron an liosta de dhaoine a gheibh i an toiseachd, chuala Seonaidh agus Hannah gu faigh iad i an t-seachdain seo fhèin.

[Seonaidh Park] Uill tha mi a’ faireachdainn nas fheàrr an turas seo gun teagamh mar-thà, tha barrachd dòchais againn gu bheil an vaccine a’ dol a dhèanamh feum agus dol a dhèanamh a’ chùis air.

[Hannah NicDiarmaid] Bha mi dìreach airson a’ bhanachdach fhaighinn, cha robh mi eagallach mu dheidhinn. Bha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ris agus leis gu bheil e air tighinn, tha e a’ tighinn gu crìoch tha mi a’ smaoineachadh, gu ìre gu math slaodach ach tha e a’ tighinn gu crìoch. So tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ris.

A difficult time for those stuck in the house

English Beurla

[DA Morrison] Now, for those who have been keeping themselves isolated for health reasons or shielding, it’s been a difficult time. They aren’t restricted as much as they were in the last lockdown, but they still need to be very careful. With that then, it will be a relief for them when they get the vaccine as Eileen MacDonald heard from some who are getting it this week.

[Eileen MacDonald] This is restorative for Hannah. Last year, she couldn’t put a foot out of the garden gate because of Covid. She was stuck in the house in the Isle of Skye for months. She has cystic fibrosis. Although she needs to be careful in this lockdown, things aren’t as strict as they used to be.

[Hannah McDermott] It was just so strict, we couldn’t do much but now I have a little more freedom. I can now go to the shops, that’s not big but for me, I wasn’t even in our co-op for almost a year and I don’t go outside, I don’t go there often but I went in for the first time just before Christmas, last Christmas and it was so strange going inside again but things like that, it’s not so strict that I shouldn’t do them but I’m still trying to be careful.

[Eileen MacDonald] So is Johnny, he had two small strokes. There are many roads that he travelled himself in the city of Inverness when he was teaching driving. He can jump into the car in this lockdown if he wants. He has more freedom.

[Johnny Park] People are too scared to go out anyway. I only go out very rarely, maybe once a month if I need anything or like that but I don’t go out except for then. I go around in here, at the back of the house and out in my shed and things like that but I think it’s very different to last year.

[Hannah McDermott] A big change happened to the life of musician Ruairidh MacLean from Ullapool too, he doesn’t have a job right now. He had to keep himself away from other people because he has asthma. He doesn’t know for sure when the hotels that he works in will open or when exactly he’ll get the vaccine. With the health board going through the list of people that will get it first, Johnny and Hannah heard that they will get it this very week.

[Johnny Park] Well I’m feeling better this time already without a doubt, we have more hope that the vaccine will be useful and will do the job.

[Hannah McDermott] I just wanted to get the vaccine, I wasn’t scared about it. I was looking forward to it and because it’s arrived, it’s coming to an end I think, at a very slow pace but it’s coming to an end. So I’m looking forward to it.
